Gotchas

  • You can redeem a Notion startup offer only once, even if you work with several partners, so choose the 6-month partner route if available.
  • The offer applies only to a net new Business plan; past invoices are not refunded and existing paid workspaces do not qualify.
  • If Notion cannot verify you are a tech startup, or you have fewer than 10 employees, you may be downgraded to the 1-month tier.
  • Older Notion pages still describe a Plus-plan offer and a $1,000 credit; the current program is time-based on the Business plan.

About the Notion program

Notion for Startups gives early-stage companies a free period on Notion's Business plan, including the monthly Notion AI credits that come with Business. The length of the free period depends on how you arrive: startups affiliated with one of Notion's startup partners (VCs, accelerators, perks platforms) get 6 months free, startups that apply on their own and can be verified get 3 months free, and small businesses, service companies or teams with fewer than 10 employees get 1 month.

The offer only applies to a *net new* Business plan: your workspace must not be on a paid plan when the offer is granted, and past invoices are never refunded. Each company can redeem a Notion startup offer exactly once, even if it works with several partners, so it is worth getting a partner code (for example through your investor, accelerator, or a Mercury/Brex account) before applying rather than taking the 3-month direct offer.

To be considered you need a valid Notion workspace domain, a public company website, a company email address (free email providers are rejected) and fewer than 100 employees. Notion's team reviews applications and replies within roughly 3-5 business days; the upgrade takes effect immediately on approval.

Notion says it works with more than a thousand partners worldwide, including AWS Activate, Stripe Atlas, HubSpot, Slack, Shopify and JP Morgan, all of whom can issue the 6-month partner code. Startup offers cannot be combined with any other offer or code.
