Eligible credits are applied automatically; PostHog emails confirmation and partner perk details.

Gotchas

  • You must be on the paid plan before applying; credits are applied against usage billing.
  • Credits expire after 12 months regardless of how much you have used.
  • From Sept 14, 2026 credits do not cover PostHog AI products or Boost-plan BAAs.
  • Support is standard/community tier only for program members.
  • Strict limits: under 2 years old and under $5M raised; one grant per founder and per organisation.

About the PostHog program

PostHog for Startups gives early-stage companies $50,000 in PostHog credits valid for 12 months, usable across product analytics, session replay, feature flags, experiments, surveys, error tracking and the data warehouse. The package also includes $12,000 in partner perks (for example $5,000 of Depot credit) and PostHog merch.

Eligibility is tight: the company must be under 2 years old and have raised under $5M. The PostHog account must use a company email domain (personal addresses are rejected) and must have been created on or after January 1, 2023. You first sign up for a paid plan (pay-as-you-go, so there is no upfront charge) and then submit the startup form from the company-email account; eligible credits are applied automatically and PostHog confirms by email.

Credits are issued once per founder and once per organisation. From September 14, 2026 credits cannot be used on PostHog's AI products (PostHog AI, Inbox, Replay Vision) or to pay for a BAA under the Boost plan, and program members get standard or community support rather than priority support.

If your startup meets the criteria but your PostHog account was created before January 1, 2023, PostHog will not apply the credits but will still enrol you in the rest of the program (perks and merch).
