Gotchas
- Existing paid customers are ineligible; apply before buying any Atlassian subscription.
- Hard limits: 50 users, one 12-month enrollment, US$10M funding; exceeding 50 users requires upgrading to paid at the next tier.
- Jira Service Management, Customer Service Management and Jira Product Discovery are limited to 10 seats.
- Atlassian Marketplace apps are not included, and Usage-Based Pricing can still apply in some situations.
- The product list can be modified over time.
About the Atlassian program
Atlassian for Startups gives eligible companies the Premium edition of its Cloud products for $0 for 12 months for up to 50 users. The lineup on the official page: Jira Premium (up to 50 seats), Confluence Premium (50), Loom Business + AI (50), Bitbucket Premium (50), Jira Service Management and Customer Service Management (up to 10 seats), and Jira Product Discovery Premium (10 creator seats plus unlimited contributors). Atlassian Marketplace apps are not included, and the product list may be modified over time.
Eligibility requires all three criteria: not an existing Atlassian paid customer; VC-funded or associated with a partner accelerator and/or incubator; and not having raised more than US$10 million in external funding. Atlassian's team reviews every application to confirm accuracy and eligibility, may email with questions, and may ask for proof of funding such as a Crunchbase or PitchBook profile. Each eligible startup can enroll for one 12-month period; before it ends you choose to renew or cancel each product.
If you need to expand beyond the 50-user maximum (or the 10-user maximum for Service Management and Jira Product Discovery) you must upgrade to a paid version, quoted at the next user tier (e.g. 51-100 users). Usage-Based Pricing can apply in certain situations. Participants get dedicated Customer Success Managers throughout the 12 months and access to the Startups group on Atlassian Community. Products under the program are Free or Beta Products under Section 17 of the Atlassian Customer Agreement. VCs, incubators and accelerators can email startups@atlassian.com to share the offer with portfolio companies.
