Gotchas
- The $200K figure is a joint Neon + Databricks cap for venture-backed startups; self-funded startups get at most $1,000.
- Credits expire 12 months from the acceptance date, not from first use.
- Neon's pricing page and an older blog post still mention 'up to $100K'; the startups page itself says up to $200K with Databricks.
- The Neon Agent Plan (up to $25K general-use credits) is a different program for agent platforms and excludes companies already in the Startup Program.
About the Neon program
Neon's startup page is now branded the Databricks Startup Program (Neon was acquired by Databricks) and offers credits for both Neon serverless Postgres and Databricks. The headline is "Launch faster with up to $200K in credits"; the exact amount depends on your stage and funding.
There are two tracks. Self-funded: early-stage founders with less than $1M in funding building an early-stage product or MVP get up to $1,000 in Neon credits, onboarding support from the Neon product team and early access to new features. Venture-backed: VC-backed startups with at least $1M in funding, or participants in recognized accelerators such as Y Combinator, get up to $200K in Neon and Databricks credits plus onboarding support, early access, speaking slots at Neon developer events and co-marketing.
Credits are valid for 12 months from the date of acceptance. Existing Neon or Databricks users can apply and credits are added to the current account with no migration. When credits run out or expire, the account simply continues on the selected plan with normal usage billing; there is no commitment.
Applications are submitted through the external form linked from neon.com/startups; the team reviews each one and typically responds within a few business days. Note that an older Neon blog post advertised "up to $100K in Neon credits" for startups that raised $1M-$5M, and a separate post offered YC companies "$100k worth of Neon credits for your first year"; the current page supersedes these with the $200K joint cap.
