  • New participant (not previously accepted)

How to apply

  1. 1

If you have a VC, accelerator or incubator, ask them to refer you (or to apply to join the MongoDB for Startups partner program).

  2. 2

Otherwise click Apply Now on mongodb.com/solutions/startups and submit company, product and funding details; follow up if you hear nothing after five business days.

  3. 3

On acceptance, copy the promo code from the welcome email; as Organization Owner or Billing Admin go to account.mongodb.com > Billing > Apply Code.

  4. 4

Activate within 12 months and use the credits within 12 months of activation; request an extension with about three months remaining if needed.

Gotchas

  • No tier amounts are published; the credit you get depends on the tier MongoDB assigns.
  • Promo code must be activated within 12 months and credits expire 12 months after activation; they only cover future charges, never past usage.
  • Only an Organization Owner or Billing Admin can apply the code.
  • Development shops and agencies are excluded; you must be building a single software product.

About the MongoDB program

MongoDB for Startups gives early-stage companies MongoDB Atlas credits, Voyage AI embedding/reranker tokens, technical expertise and dedicated support. The program page describes four tiers of support "for founders at every stage, from MVP to global scale": baseline credits to validate your idea, expanded credits plus hands-on technical support, additional credits with expanded expertise, and maximum credits with priority support for scaling globally. No dollar amount is published for any tier.

To qualify for the base tier a startup must be less than 7 years old and Series A or earlier, focused on a single software-based product or service (development shops and agencies are not eligible), not previously accepted into the program, and have an active company website and LinkedIn profile. Both new and existing Atlas users are accepted.

MongoDB works closely with VCs, accelerators and incubators and asks you to have your partner refer you (or to have them apply to join the program); if you have no investor or accelerator, apply directly on the page. If you have not heard back after five business days, contact MongoDB. Accepted startups receive a unique promo code in the welcome email, activated under Billing at account.mongodb.com by an Organization Owner or Billing Admin.

You have 12 months to activate the promo code and 12 months after activation to use the credits; extensions are considered case by case (contact MongoDB with three months remaining), and codes apply only to future charges. Developer Support is free for 30 days and can then be paid with startup credits (from $49/month), and members get a one-on-one session with a MongoDB expert. MongoDB's Google Cloud page separately advertises "up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits and $5,000 for Atlas" for startups on Google Cloud.

Frequently asked questions

How long are MongoDB for Startups credits valid?

You have 12 months to activate the promo code and 12 months after activation to use the credits. Extensions are reviewed case by case; MongoDB asks to be contacted when three months remain.

Can I apply if I already use Atlas?

Yes. Existing Atlas users can apply as long as they have not previously been accepted into the program.

Do I need a VC referral?

No, but MongoDB prefers referrals from partner VCs, accelerators or incubators and offers higher tiers to VC-backed companies.

Verification. Checked by our automated checker on Nov 3, 2026 against https://www.mongodb.com/solutions/startups. Status: partially verified.

Live page mongodb.com/solutions/startups re-fetched 2026-11-03 (HTTP 200, FAQ in JSON-LD). Eligibility, partner referral process, promo-code timing (12 months to activate, 12 months to use), five-business-day follow-up and Developer Support terms are stated verbatim. The page names four credit tiers but publishes no dollar amounts, so usd_max is null and status is partially_verified. The $5,000 Atlas figure was confirmed on mongodb.com/products/platform/atlas-cloud-providers/google-cloud. The AWS Activate path comes from MongoDB's own blog announcement.
