Spend the credits on SurrealDB Cloud and/or Agent Memory within 12 months; add paid Startup Support if you want support tickets.
Gotchas
- Credits expire 12 months after they are applied to your account.
- Credits cover SurrealDB Cloud and Agent Memory only, not self-hosted deployments.
- Support tickets are not free: Startup Support is a paid add-on at a reduced rate.
- By SurrealDB's own estimate, $5,000 lasts about 1.5 months on a three-node 2xlarge Cloud Scale cluster, so size the cluster to make the credits last.
- SurrealDB asks accepted startups for a case study and product feedback in return.
About the SurrealDB program
The SurrealDB Startup Programme (surrealdb.com/startups) gives $5,000 in credits that can be spent on SurrealDB Cloud, the managed database, or Agent Memory, SurrealDB's memory product for AI agents, in any split. Credits sit at organisation level and last 12 months from the day they are applied to your account.
It is for companies funded from seed to Series A that are building a product on SurrealDB, and SurrealDB says it looks for technical fit: SurrealDB doing real work in your architecture. Accepted startups also get a named Solutions Engineer for schema design, query performance and migration from their current stack, plus launch help such as joint blog posts. In return SurrealDB asks for a case study, published only once you approve it word for word, and honest product feedback.
Joining is free. Startup Support (support tickets) is an optional paid add-on at a reduced startup rate. When the credits run out, instances keep running at standard pricing. SurrealDB is free to self-host under BSL 1.1, but the credits only cover SurrealDB Cloud and Agent Memory. SurrealDB's own estimate: $5,000 runs about 1.5 months of a three-node Cloud Scale cluster of 2xlarge instances (8 vCPU, 32 GB each) or about 4 months of the Agent Memory Plus plan.
