Gotchas
- Third-party perk sites still list Twilio or SendGrid startup credits; Twilio's own page says none are offered.
- Searchlight credits go only to a handful of honorees and are awarded once a year.
- SendGrid is excluded from Twilio.org's nonprofit/social-impact discounts.
About the Twilio program
Twilio's former Startups program offered product credits, expertise and resources to early-stage founders building on Twilio and Twilio SendGrid. Twilio's current 'Free resources for startups' page states plainly that every Twilio customer gets a small credit when opening an account, and Twilio does not offer additional credits to startups at this time. The page points startups to free educational resources instead.
The only credit route still visible on twilio.com is the AI Startup Searchlight, an annual awards program for AI startups that integrate Twilio and have raised less than $200M. Honorees receive a one-time grant of up to $10,000 in Twilio credits plus a Ramp gift card worth up to $5,000 (a lower tier receives up to $5,000 in credits and a $2,500 Ramp gift card). The 2026 application window closed on September 11, 2026; a 2027 cycle has not been announced at research time.
SendGrid itself has no separate startup plan beyond its standard free tier and pricing. Twilio.org's Impact Access discounts for social-impact organisations explicitly exclude SendGrid Email.
